Summer Programs

Kodiak Island Borough School District offers a variety of summer enrichment programs for students in grades K-12. A quick overview of our programs and the grades they serve are listed below.

Special Services – Extended School Year (ESY) Pre K-12 

Extended School Year (ESY) is for K-12 students in our Special Education Program and will focus on preventing regression both in academic and behavioral skills.

SEAL- K-5: Summer English Acquisition and Learning  

SEAL is for grades K-5.  Students are selected by teachers based on needs.

Summer Enhancement K-8: Science-Based Reading and Math Focused  

Summer Enhancement is for grades K-8.  Students are selected by teachers based on needs. Small groups of 4-5 students will meet with a teacher or paraprofessional to target those specific needs.

CTE Intensives 9-12: Open to Incoming Freshman-Graduating Seniors 

WHEN: May 30, 2023 – June 16, 2023

Intensives focus on post-secondary readiness. These are fun and engaging classes taught by Kodiak teachers.  Classes offered this summer are: boat maintenance, construction for the trades, early childhood education, electrical AC/DC, health intensive, medical, billing, and coding, driver’s education.

Summer Online School

Are you looking to recover credit or earn credit for summer independent studies? Well, look no further than the Kodiak Virtual Learning Academy Summer Edition experience!  We are offering nearly 50 course choices for summer learning. Be sure to speak with your counselor to get more information on where you are in your graduation progress work.
